Beat it.

They say that the beat of music is the beat of our life. Others say that music IS life. But human as we are, we move to our own beat. We listen to different genres of music, have our own beats and have our own personality. And more than often, the music we listen to defines who we are, or who we appear to be. With a little help from my friend Lea Dio, we were able to brainstorm some descriptions of the music people.

People who are inclined to Blues, RnB and Jazz (in any form), are said to be the reflective, relaxed and complex people. This batch of people are the more laid-back, creative and intellectual bunch. They can be very independent people. However, they tend to be a little bit liberal in their decisions, but they still know what is right for themselves and for others.

Rock and all it's stereotypes like Punk, Classic Rock, Emo, Alternative and Metal tend to have a strong, edgy personality. Their eccentricity is what defines them. They love thrills and exciting adventures and are the most expressive people. They love action. However, their aggressiveness could be the result of too much hidden problems. They resort to suicidal actions like cutting or hurting themselves, thinking that it will help relieve the pain. The slightest problems are big for them. This is how the "emo kid" was born. They also tend to be lazy and have a very low self-esteem.

Country music, along with Gospel and Classical music, usually are the music of the introverts. They have a high self-esteem and are very hardworking and creative at the same time. They also treat life with much ease.

Reggae-inclined people love to relax in anyway possible. Although often mistaken for drug addicts, Rastafarians just treat life with ease, win no worries and no sweat. They tend to become lazy, but they are very optimistic and show the better, lighter side of life. Closely related to this genre is House music. This music, often heard in clubs, also shows the positive side of people, however, this covers up a lot of depression within the person. The music would often take the person away from reality and from their problems, just so he/she can have a good time.

The more energetic people are the ones who love Hip-hop, Funk, Electronic and Rap. Their genre shows confidence and energy. This music often brings people together to celebrate and to have fun. Also fans of action, freedom, romance and socialization define their true colors.

Lastly is the Pop and Mainstream music. This often changes and is a very general genre. Usually people under this genre love socialization. On the negative side, they would use this kind of music just to "fit in". It is generally accepted that this music defines the current society.

Well, we may not be that dedicated to a certain part of music. But just the beat of it, keeps us going. Find your beat, and beat it up.
